Apple TV+ with Benjamin Jancewicz and Joe Moyer

The boys are joined by Benjamin Jancewicz and Joe Moyer for a fun discussion on Apple TV+.

Benjamin's Recommendations

Overall: Apple TV is boutique television and movies; that one sparsely population community movie theatre that shows nothing but quality 90% of the time, and puts real butter on the popcorn.

TV Shows

For All Mankind ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Solid storytelling, very very accurate science, movie level special effects

Foundation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Bold interpretation of Asimov's novels, with a better cohesive story. The best adaptation of any Asimov work yet.  Guided by Robyn Asimov, his daughter.

Invasion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Entertaining and nail biting, which interwoven stories

Severance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Deserves 2 watches. Well done sets. Feels like an expanded short story. Very Tales from the Loop

Hello Tomorrow! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Feels like a 50s sci-fi novel brought to life

Silo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • The best of sets, acting, storyline, special effects, and serialization Apple TV has done to date. The Season 2 finale will rock everything you thought was true.

Hijack ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Elba's brilliant acting coupled with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat

The Changeling ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • A bit too disturbing for me, but a solidly engaging series.

Lessons in Chemistry ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Sweet and surprising. Come for the science. Stay for the romance.

Masters of the Air ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • One of the most beautiful and cutting interpretations of WWII pilots I've ever seen. Period-accurate perfection, with special effects you could tell Spielberg was waiting for.

The Problem with John Stewart ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Solid long-form replacement for the Daily Show

Upcoming

  • Wycaro 399 - Vince Gilligan Scifi
  • Neuromancer - Cyberpunk Drama
  • Speed Racer - Cartoon Adaptation
  • Star City - Alt History

Movies

Greyhound ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Tom Hanks captains a warship in WWII, based on true events

Finch ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Tom Hanks has a Robot.

Swan Song ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Psychological Romantic Sci-fi. Like an expanded Black Mirror episode, but harder hitting.

Luck ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Solid, entertaining, first foray into animation.

Spirited ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • A self aware Christmas movie where Will Ferrel and Ryan Reynolds fight for who is funniest on screen.

Emancipation ⭐️

  • Only threw this on here to point out that they CAN make mistakes

Killers of the Flower Moon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • A bitingly difficult film to watch, but one that is hard to turn away from. Brilliant performances from Lily Gladstone, Robert DeNiro, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Ought to be required viewing in history classes.

Napoleon ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Beautiful and high budget, ruined only by odd accent choices.

Wolfs ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Brad Pitt and George Clooney clearly are having fun in this, and only did it because they love doing it. A joy to watch.

Blitz ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Beautifully shot WWII film from a child’s perspective. It feels like you’re settling in for a Narnia or Harry Potter style tale, and then continues to be far more real than you would expect.

Still ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • I’ve never seen a better shot biopic. Answers the question “Whatever happened to Michael J. Fox?” in stark detail.

Velveteen Rabbit ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Beautiful adaptation of the children’s book that does not feel rushed or contrived.

Blush ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Short. Cute. 10 minutes of sci-fi animation.

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Basic AF. I'm your co-host Tommy Anderson and I'm joined as always by the one and only, thank goodness, Jeff Battersby. Hello Jeff.

it is good to be back. I'm a dedicated listener to this show. It's top of my podcasts, especially when I'm driving to Jeff's house. It's great. It's a great thing to listen to and catch up on all things tech, which is what I love to do. So glad to be back. Thank you for having

Jeff Battersby (2m 3s)

Yeah, cool.

Jeff Battersby (2m 7s)

And just to clarify that, Benjamin lives down by where Tom is in the DC-ish area, and has a friend, a significant other that is across the border in Canada, and I am halfway between there.

Benjamin Jancewicz (2m 23s)

Yep, almost precisely half.

Jeff Battersby (2m 26s)

So Benjamin comes here, has a nice dinner, occasionally a cocktail, and then goes the

Jeff Battersby (2m 33s)

way to Canada to do what he needs to do.

Jeff Battersby (2m 37s)

So anyway, an interesting story, we won't spend too much time on this because we've got a lot of content and not a lot of time, but Benjamin is probably the only person that I have ever actually met from Twitter in person.

Jeff Battersby (2m 58s)

That's how we became friends.

Jeff Battersby (3m 1s)

Benjamin was a...

Jeff Battersby (3m 3s)

Posted some video about some guy in around the Baltimore areas whose car caught on fire and

Jeff Battersby (3m 11s)

Requested, you know, he was going to give the guy some assistance. It was an older gentleman if I recall and

Jeff Battersby (3m 18s)

in not necessarily financially secure so Benjamin

Benjamin Jancewicz (3m 22s)

Yeah, his his car blew up in front of me on the highway and I pulled him out of it was burning

Joe Moyer (3m 26s)

Wow. Okay, that's a quite a story. Wow. That's a little different than Jeff started with. Wow.

Jeff Battersby (3m 29s)

Yeah, right?

Jeff Battersby (3m 31s)

So, yeah, I just said Twitter, which is also a car fire, too, but that's another.

Joe Moyer (3m 35s)

Yeah, that's the other show, Jeff.

Benjamin Jancewicz (3m 37s)

The fascinating thing is that we've we've met up quite quite a number of times and

Benjamin Jancewicz (3m 45s)

Honestly when we meet up, it's sort of a mini version of this particular show So we we exchange movies and

Benjamin Jancewicz (3m 52s)

shows and books and things that we're consuming and tech that we're interested in. It's, it's very much on, on par with

Jeff Battersby (4m 2s)

And that's a great segue because movies and shows is what this particular episode is going to be about.

Let’s Talk Apple TV+

Jeff Battersby (4m 8s)

We're going to very quickly talk about what turns out to be quite a lot of Apple TV+ content.

Jeff Battersby (4m 16s)

And Joe, Benjamin, both avid watchers of the same, Tom is along for the ride.

Joe Moyer (4m 25s)

He's here. He's it.

Jeff Battersby (4m 25s)

Not really. You've watched a couple of things.

Benjamin Jancewicz (4m 27s)

Well, he said, he said as he went through the list, right, correct me if I'm wrong Tom,

Benjamin Jancewicz (4m 31s)

but you have seen or at least tasted a bunch of them.

Tom Anderson (4m 34s)

I have, yeah, and I don't know, it was, compared to the list that you gentlemen have put together, it was, I'm feeling not so good about myself, but so, yeah, and so we're going to go through that, and I know we've talked about, we've teased this show a little bit,

Jeff Battersby (4m 40s)

Now you should be feeling great about yourself because you're not burning hours watching Apple TV+ content.

Tom Anderson (5m)

And I know Jeff has been excited to do this one.

Tom Anderson (5m 4s)

And just over discussions with Benjamin and Joe,

Tom Anderson (5m 8s)

we've found out that they were as well.

Tom Anderson (5m 10s)

So we thought we would bring them in to kind of broaden the analysis a little bit on it.

Tom Anderson (5m 16s)

Of course, Apple TV+ debuted, what?

Tom Anderson (5m 18s)

About five, a little over five years ago at this point,

Jeff Battersby (5m 22s)

Yeah, it's a bit about that, yeah.

Tom Anderson (5m 22s)

I think it's 2019 or something like that, late 2019.

Tom Anderson (5m 26s)

And has added a lot of content.

Tom Anderson (5m 30s)

They started off with,

Tom Anderson (5m 31s)

like a lot of the streaming services

Tom Anderson (5m 34s)

that they sell out content that they license from other places.

Tom Anderson (5m 38s)

Apple didn't really do that.

Tom Anderson (5m 41s)

And so, but over those five years,

Tom Anderson (5m 44s)

they've added quite a lot.

Jeff Battersby (5m 47s)

Yeah, pretty impressive, and I think, you know, when Apple first announced it, it was a big "ha ha ha, okay, great, Apple's going to get into television and movies, right,

Jeff Battersby (5m 56s)

let's see how they do."

Jeff Battersby (5m 58s)

The reality is, the content, the movies, let's not call it content, because in many cases it really is art, you know, content just sounds like, "Yeah, we are the content."

Benjamin Jancewicz (6m 8s)

word content.

Tom Anderson (6m 9s)

Right Bye bye.

Jeff Battersby (6m 12s)

That's another conversation for another day.

Benjamin Jancewicz (6m 15s)

Consumables, Jeff!

Jeff Battersby (6m 15s)

it. Yeah.

Jeff Battersby (6m 17s)

It was everybody kind of saw it as a joke, although they had some big names on hand. You know, Steven Spielberg was was going to be a part of it. You know, obviously Jennifer Aniston and some others were were dried out on stage. Oprah, I think, if I remember correctly, was was also there. So lot of a lot of big people, but everybody kind of thought, sure, right, they're going to get into this stuff.

Jeff Battersby (6m 47s)

And I will say true to Apple, in general, you know, and they're taking, you know, a standard thing that everybody uses and making it better. The stuff that Apple's producing is compelling. And unfortunately, because you have to have an Apple TV Plus account, and in many cases, Apple devices, not easy for everybody to get their hands on, which is unfortunate, because

Benjamin Jancewicz (7m 19s)

I, I don't know, Jeff, I think that's that's actually a little bit of part of the appeal.

Benjamin Jancewicz (7m 25s)

I so I've been evangelizing Apple TV pretty hard lately, just because I've been enjoying it so much.

Benjamin Jancewicz (7m 32s)

And because it seems like every every other streaming services raising their prices.

Benjamin Jancewicz (7m 38s)

But I think the hard to get to ness of Apple TV is actually something that makes it a little more learn.

Benjamin Jancewicz (7m 49s)

I'm going to go ahead and start. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to

Benjamin Jancewicz (7m 57s)

start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to

Benjamin Jancewicz (8m 20s)

start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with the first one. I'm going to start with you can use a lot of other devices and just have the account.

Jeff Battersby (8m 49s)

So maybe it's you just really need to know that it's available to you on those devices because you're right

Jeff Battersby (8m 54s)

Almost every TV that you buy every quote-unquote smart TV

Tom Anderson (8m 59s)

Yeah, they tacked it onto Amazon Prime as an optional add-on as well.

Jeff Battersby (8m 59s)

has

Joe Moyer (9m)

Yeah, you can subscribe, yeah, I saw that as well.

Joe Moyer (9m 4s)

And we had Amazon Firesticks for a long time, which mercifully I finally switched over to Apple TVs again, but it was there.

Benjamin Jancewicz (9m 11s)

It does, it definitely does.

Joe Moyer (9m 11s)

It didn't work great, but it was there.

Jeff Battersby (9m 13s)

Yeah and anything that you can airplay to, so I mean if you've got it on an iPad or phone or your your Mac and you can if you can airplay to something which a lot of TV support airplay now too right out of the box that works really well. I think the amazing thing is there are really... the number of quality shows and quality movies that Apple's producing. It's not the same.

Joe Moyer (9m 13s)

It definitely works the best on Apple hardware, but it is accessible.

Tom Anderson (9m 27s)

Right.

Tom Anderson (9m 29s)

Yeah.

Jeff Battersby (9m 44s)

as Benjamin points out, that there aren't some bombs in there. There are definitely a couple of things that we definitely will, but we will have to adjust, upgrade to Benjamin's 5, 4, 3-star rating system because my initial rating system was, you know, I loved it, I liked it, and then meh, which, you know, made it simple. That was a 3-star rating system as opposed to a 5-star rating system.

Benjamin Jancewicz (9m 47s)

We'll get to those

Apple TV+ vs the Market

Jeff Battersby (10m 9s)

It's simple, that was a three-star rating system as opposed to a five-star rating system.

Jeff Battersby (10m 13s)

But we will post, yes, you did, we did, right, nobody follows directions and that's okay because typically neither do I.

Joe Moyer (10m 14s)

Yeah, then I did something different too, right?

Joe Moyer (10m 15s)

So we just all went rogue.

Joe Moyer (10m 18s)

Sorry, Jeff.

Jeff Battersby (10m 23s)

Yeah, you're welcome, but I think, you know, in the show notes we'll try to provide this and I think we'll maybe just leave it as it is if that works.

Joe Moyer (10m 23s)

Right.

Joe Moyer (10m 24s)

We learned from the best.

Jeff Battersby (10m 35s)

Tom, is this too much for show notes?

Jeff Battersby (10m 37s)

Okay. Okay.

Tom Anderson (10m 37s)

Yes. Well, because there's character limits and so what I will do is I'll try to take it and

Tom Anderson (10m 45s)

with the hosts we have for our website once the episode publishes I can go in and add a lot more details. So what I'll do is we'll wait for the show to publish and then that morning I'll go in and put this as best I can into that. So at least on the website and I'll put a link to the website in the actual show notes that show up in your podcast player.

Jeff Battersby (11m 4s)

So, all that to say, between Benjamin, Joe, Tom, and myself, and Tom has watched some stuff as Benjamin pointed out, we have all watched, seems like almost everything that's on Apple TV+.

Benjamin Jancewicz (11m 23s)

I would I would push back against that. I so I

Benjamin Jancewicz (11m 26s)

last night went through the list and what I did was I pulled up the Wikipedia page for all of the movies and shows that

Benjamin Jancewicz (11m 33s)

Apple TV has produced and

Benjamin Jancewicz (11m 36s)

I haven't even touched half the catalog

Jeff Battersby (11m 40s)

Seriously? Okay, that's interesting.

Benjamin Jancewicz (11m 40s)

Yes, so there's a lot more out there that I haven't even approached because it's just not on my radar

Benjamin Jancewicz (11m 48s)

And you guys haven't approached it either. So there's I

Benjamin Jancewicz (11m 53s)

Would I would push back against that they've got a bigger catalog than we're even gonna touch on in this show

Jeff Battersby (11m 59s)

All right, fair. I will take that spanking. Thank you, Benjamin.

Tom Anderson (12m 3s)

So really quickly, why do you think, I think the consensus and, and not just from the four of us, but, you know, others as well, content wise, very good, like very, very good generally, um, speaking, uh, so what do you think the holdup is for, I'll say market share, but for, for them to, to grow the audience that, that sees these things, because we've got prime video at the top that gets kind of lumped in with the prime video.

Tom Anderson (12m 33s)

Primes subscriptions.

Tom Anderson (12m 34s)

So that might be a little bit inflated.

Tom Anderson (12m 35s)

Of course, Netflix has been around forever with DVD by mail.

Tom Anderson (12m 38s)

So when they went streaming, they were already fairly well established.

Tom Anderson (12m 41s)

Um, and then Disney came into the scene.

Tom Anderson (12m 43s)

We've got max, which is a terrible name for what I guess used to be HBO max.

Benjamin Jancewicz (12m 46s)

So stupid.

Tom Anderson (12m 48s)

If I recall, um, Disney.

Jeff Battersby (12m 48s)

He used to just be HBO first.

Benjamin Jancewicz (12m 51s)

We'll talk branding mistakes in another episode.

Tom Anderson (12m 51s)

Yeah.

Tom Anderson (12m 52s)

And.

Tom Anderson (12m 54s)

Right.

Tom Anderson (12m 55s)

Uh, and then, you know, Hulu, Paramount plus, and, uh, and Peacock just in the list that we put together, but there are even more, right.

Tom Anderson (13m 1s)

There's 2B, there's.

Tom Anderson (13m 3s)

All this other stuff, um, apples coming in about 7%.

Tom Anderson (13m 9s)

Uh, us anyway, in December of last year, which was down from 8%, the quarter before then, whatever, you know, who knows how exact those numbers are, but.

Benjamin Jancewicz (13m 19s)

What's missing from your list, and I'm not sure where it even fits, is YouTube, the behemoth.

Tom Anderson (13m 25s)

Right. Yep.

Benjamin Jancewicz (13m 25s)

You know, you can watch movies, stream shows on YouTube,

Benjamin Jancewicz (13m 30s)

and people don't really consider it a streaming platform like they do with these Netflix and Amazon Primes.

Benjamin Jancewicz (13m 40s)

And I agree, I think those Prime videos numbers are a little inflated.

Tom Anderson (13m 46s)

Yeah, right.

Benjamin Jancewicz (13m 47s)

I would be interested to see.

Benjamin Jancewicz (13m 49s)

know, number of hours watched as a better metric just because, you know, so many people have Prime accounts and they don't use any of the other services like the music and the

Joe Moyer (14m 3s)

  • Yeah, I think Apple TV,

Joe Moyer (14m 6s)

it reminds me of what HBO used to be.

Joe Moyer (14m 8s)

So it sort of has a little bit of a prestige element to it.

Joe Moyer (14m 10s)

They do less, but typically do it better.

Joe Moyer (14m 13s)

Apple TV also, from my experience,

Joe Moyer (14m 15s)

doesn't have the series that some of these other streaming channels have.

Joe Moyer (14m 20s)

You know, cable shows like "The Big Bang Theory",

Joe Moyer (14m 21s)

"The Office", all those shows that I feel like a lot of people,

Joe Moyer (14m 25s)

with more time than me to be honest,

Joe Moyer (14m 27s)

are just kind of putting on and enjoying, right?

Joe Moyer (14m 29s)

That's a little trip down memory lane.

Joe Moyer (14m 30s)

And I know there's some of that on Apple TV.

Joe Moyer (14m 34s)

Not to the level of, I feel like, some of the other big streamers.

Jeff Battersby (14m 37s)

I think that's actually a good thing, you know.

Joe Moyer (14m 39s)

I agree. Yeah, I'm fine with that.

Benjamin Jancewicz (14m 42s)

I think that's one of the things that makes Apple TV+ good is that they didn't fill their back catalog with stuffing.

Benjamin Jancewicz (14m 54s)

If you go down on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and you scroll more than three times,

Benjamin Jancewicz (15m 2s)

you start to get some really, really terrible options.

Benjamin Jancewicz (15m 7s)

movies and shows that they acquired the license to to make their catalogs.

Benjamin Jancewicz (15m 12s)

bigger. And some people watch them, most people don't. They've got 3-5 stars on IMDB, which is a 10-star system. And they're just awful. But they're using them as filler. And because Apple TV is producing almost all of its own content, it doesn't have that. It doesn't have any show that doesn't meet its standard of quality. So it's very much a walled garden, just like their Apple

Tom Anderson (15m 42s)

Yeah, and I think what they've missed so far and potentially severance could be that,

Tom Anderson (15m 48s)

Ted Lasso was to a point I think,

Tom Anderson (15m 50s)

is kind of like the cultural hit, right?

Tom Anderson (15m 54s)

That Netflix had, right?

Tom Anderson (15m 55s)

They did that, what was it?

Tom Anderson (15m 56s)

"How to Catch a Killer" or whatever that was.

Tom Anderson (15m 59s)

They've had the Menendez Brothers,

Tom Anderson (16m 2s)

that came out and that got, you know.

Benjamin Jancewicz (16m 3s)

Yep, Tiger King during COVID.

Tom Anderson (16m 5s)

Right, "Tiger King" was huge, yeah.

Joe Moyer (16m 5s)

Oh yeah, even I watch that.

Jeff Battersby (16m 5s)

Yeah, right. It was huge, right?

Tom Anderson (16m 7s)

And you can debate the quality of those shows,

Tom Anderson (16m 10s)

but it got a lot of attention.

Benjamin Jancewicz (16m 11s)

Yeah, it's a cultural touchstone, yeah.

Tom Anderson (16m 12s)

Netflix has pivoted a little bit and has gotten into live sports, so of course they had the Tyson/Paul fight, which I forget how many tens of millions of people. Yeah, it was quite an event. The fight sucked, but that was to be expected. That was a promotional thing. That really wasn't a fight. I mean, it was a promotional thing. They both walked away with a lot of money and good for them.

Benjamin Jancewicz (16m 28s)

it forever. They really did. They really did. They fleeced all of us. Quite well.

Tom Anderson (16m 39s)

and good for them, yeah.

Tom Anderson (16m 43s)

But they had NFL, NFL on Christmas day.

Tom Anderson (16m 45s)

They are now the exclusive provider for WWE's Monday Night Raw.

Jeff Battersby (16m 54s)

Tommy's favorite.

Tom Anderson (16m 56s)

I keep up with it on the socials.

Tom Anderson (16m 57s)

I don't really, again, I don't watch it because it's three hours long every Monday.

Tom Anderson (17m 1s)

I don't have time for that.

Tom Anderson (17m 4s)

But once something interesting,

Tom Anderson (17m 5s)

then we'll get back to Apple TV 'cause that's really what it's about.

Tom Anderson (17m 7s)

But I did see some of the leadership on the creative side for the WWE,

Tom Anderson (17m 12s)

they said they liked about the Netflix arrangement is because it'd always been broadcast TV,

Tom Anderson (17m 17s)

so you had time slots.

Tom Anderson (17m 18s)

It was always eight to 11.

Tom Anderson (17m 21s)

And so the show was three hours because the show had to be three hours.

Tom Anderson (17m 23s)

And they're like, well, on Netflix,

Tom Anderson (17m 25s)

we have more creative control.

Tom Anderson (17m 27s)

If we wanna spin up a random 90-minute something and publish it, it's instantly available.

Tom Anderson (17m 32s)

We can do it.

Tom Anderson (17m 33s)

We don't have to wait till Monday night.

Tom Anderson (17m 34s)

We can do a 15-minute teaser for something that's coming up down the road.

Tom Anderson (17m 39s)

So that was interesting, that cable,

Tom Anderson (17m 41s)

typical, you know, your usual.

Tom Anderson (17m 42s)

Broadcast systems didn't give.

Tom Anderson (17m 44s)

So we'll, we'll see how that goes, but, uh, back to apple TV.

Jeff Battersby (17m 48s)

Yeah, let me say one more thing

Jeff Battersby (17m 50s)

just with regard to that in sports every single one of these services is is

Jeff Battersby (17m 56s)

Getting into sports streaming in some some way, you know, you've got a list here You have Amazon Prime down to Peacock every single one of those including Apple is is doing some kind of sports streaming Apple's got a contract with MLS, you know, like the worst soccer on the planet, but there it is

Tom Anderson (18m 13s)

Well, that's that's kind of the point though for me for that. It's like they've got a gazillion dollars and

Tom Anderson (18m 19s)

YouTube landed Sunday ticket and

Tom Anderson (18m 22s)

That would have brought a ton of people and they missed that one

Tom Anderson (18m 27s)

Haven't done anything NFL yet. They've done MLB

Jeff Battersby (18m 31s)

Yep. Yep. Which is okay. Gotten better.

Tom Anderson (18m 31s)

Friday Night Baseball

Tom Anderson (18m 34s)

Yeah, but baseball's

Tom Anderson (18m 37s)

Ratings aren't great. So that's not going to draw a bunch of people

Joe Moyer (18m 38s)

I think, I'm guessing the NFL wanted too much control is my guess and Apple didn't want to let something go,

Tom Anderson (18m 43s)

Right, yeah, yeah, who knows?

Tom Anderson (18m 46s)

So I think YouTube locked that down for I forget how many years.

Tom Anderson (18m 49s)

So that's not gonna be a thing for a while.

Tom Anderson (18m 51s)

The Netflix NFL stuff was pretty good.

Tom Anderson (18m 53s)

Everybody was concerned because there were streaming issues with the fight.

Tom Anderson (18m 56s)

But the NFL stuff, I didn't hear anybody really complain.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 1s)

What's annoying to me, though, is that they're not really offering anything different.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 5s)

The service that they're offering is essentially the same thing as what Cable offered,

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 10s)

you know, when you subscribe to the sports package or whatever.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 15s)

I'd be interested, you know, this is a totally different technology from Cable.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 19s)

There's a lot more opportunities for interaction.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 22s)

There's a lot more opportunities for, you know, doing stuff with second streams.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 26s)

I did see, you know, what they're doing with the Apple Vision Pro,

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 31s)

where you kind of see the field and stuff like that where they're planning on a lot of other things.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 36s)

But for the most part, it's what Netflix is offering for sports is the same thing that Cable offered.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 45s)

And so the only upside is that you can watch it whenever you want.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 50s)

But, you know, everybody wants to watch something like that live anyway.

Benjamin Jancewicz (19m 53s)

So I can't imagine that the viewership for...

Jeff Battersby (20m)

Yeah, and the downside is that in order for you to see all the games that you want to see you have to be subscribed To every single one of these services, which is a pain in the neck

Jeff Battersby (20m 8s)

You know Monday night football, I think is on ESPN. Is that what it was on? Yeah, I couldn't watch it. I don't have ESPN

Jeff Battersby (20m 15s)

You know, I do have the Disney package which has ESPN on it

Jeff Battersby (20m 19s)

But it not anything live

Tom Anderson (20m 22s)

I have the NFL app to watch football. It's $7 a month. But all the things I get, though,

Jeff Battersby (20m 27s)

Okay, look at you you

Benjamin Jancewicz (20m 28s)

subscribe to Twitter feeds and just hit refresh.

Tom Anderson (20m 29s)

are the local games. Right. Yeah, I mean, it's just almost just as good.

Jeff Battersby (20m 31s)

Yeah, there you go.

Jeff Battersby (20m 33s)

Anyway, back to back to the thing that we wanted to talk about.

Jeff Battersby (20m 36s)

I mean, it's important, I think, to talk about the streaming services because there are a million and you can spend more money than you ever did on cable and probably probably do.

Jeff Battersby (20m 44s)

And, you know, that's a pain in the neck.

Jeff Battersby (20m 47s)

But I really want to get back to to to what it is that's available on Apple TV and what's great about it.

What to Watch

Jeff Battersby (20m 55s)

available on Apple TV and what's great about it.

Jeff Battersby (20m 58s)

So Benjamin, why don't we start with--

Jeff Battersby (21m 1s)

you, and then we'll jump to Joe.

Jeff Battersby (21m 4s)

You have a fine list here of about 500 things that we'll never be able to get through.

Joe Moyer (21m 8s)

Benjamin, you should publish this after, like, I don't, you know.

Jeff Battersby (21m 12s)

Yeah, yeah, I think you're going to want to see this.

Jeff Battersby (21m 14s)

But why don't you give us two things to start.

Jeff Battersby (21m 22s)

Why don't you top--

Benjamin Jancewicz (21m 22s)

Sure. Well, before I do that, I will say that the way that I got to Apple TV was through their bundle plan, and I think that's something that people should know is that I was not looking forward to subscribing to another service.

Jeff Battersby (21m 23s)

I know this is asking for a lot.

Jeff Battersby (21m 24s)

Give us a TV show and a movie that--

Benjamin Jancewicz (21m 41s)

But because Apple offered it as part of their -- I think I got the Apple One, it came with it.

Benjamin Jancewicz (21m 49s)

And so I started, you know, just checking it in my regular.

Benjamin Jancewicz (21m 52s)

perusal of streaming apps and I started watching stuff on here and I haven't looked back.

Benjamin Jancewicz (21m 59s)

So yeah, my top, so I did a star rating system, my top shows that I have watched that I truly enjoy are For All Mankind, Foundation, Severance, Silo and Masters of the Air.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 14s)

Those I think are the tip top in terms of TV shows, we're not going into movies right now of what Apple TV has.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 23s)

and they're just all around good shows.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 25s)

They have excellent, excellent writing.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 29s)

Serialization is something that's super important for me

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 33s)

when it comes to shows is a show that that ends each episode with making you want to.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 41s)

Watch more rather than bore you.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 44s)

They all do that.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 45s)

They all have movie quality special effects.

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 49s)

There's nothing cheap about these about

Benjamin Jancewicz (22m 52s)

these shows and they all offer a unique takes on on stories that are familiar so you're you're you're not coming into these you know with art house style storytelling you're you're some it's something that's familiar and enjoyable but has has been given a little more care I would say I think TV shows traditionally...

Benjamin Jancewicz (23m 22s)

have received a lot less attention just because it's "oh it's a made-for-tv, it's a throw-away thing" right?

Benjamin Jancewicz (23m 28s)

And so they don't necessarily put the extra money into special effects or the storytelling or the acting and those kinds of things.

Benjamin Jancewicz (23m 37s)

But I really feel like Apple TV, with its wealth, has been able to sink the money into these and really do a great job.

Benjamin Jancewicz (23m 48s)

My top right now, I would say, are foundation and silo.

Benjamin’s Recommendations

Benjamin Jancewicz (23m 53s)

I can't wait for new episodes to drop.

Benjamin Jancewicz (23m 56s)

Silo's season two finale was last night,

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m)

and I don't know if any of you have caught up on it,

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 5s)

but it is a wild, wild ride.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 9s)

The last 10, 15 minutes or so are something that resets your entire framework for what you thought the show was going to be,

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 20s)

which is really, really great.

Jeff Battersby (24m 20s)

Hmm. Already, yeah.

Tom Anderson (24m 22s)

There are two more seasons of that plant, right? I think so. I think I read that last night.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 23s)

I'm not sure, is that what they've logged?

Tom Anderson (24m 28s)

Yeah, because they just did two.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 28s)

I know that it's limited by the books,

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 31s)

which I'm not touching until this series is over.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 34s)

That's another philosophy that I have.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 35s)

I don't read the books until after I watch the show,

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 38s)

because you're never disappointed,

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 39s)

because the books are always better.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 42s)

I'm not touching the books.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 44s)

I know that it's limited by the books.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 46s)

It's two seasons more,

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 48s)

so it's going to be a four.

Tom Anderson (24m 49s)

It's what I read, yeah, three and four, yeah.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 50s)

That feels about right.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 52s)

It feels right for where things are right now in this series.

Benjamin Jancewicz (24m 56s)

But honestly, the world itself is big.

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m)

So they could totally do spinoffs if they really, really wanted to.

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 4s)

For those who are not familiar with Silo at all,

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 8s)

it's post-post-apocalyptic.

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 12s)

Everybody is trapped in silos.

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 16s)

And I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to reveal there's these 50 silos. 51.

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 20s)

53 is it and then

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 23s)

Each silo, you know, there's big tubes in the ground has 10,000 people in them and

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 32s)

The world or at least the United States has

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 35s)

suffered a nuclear war and

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 39s)

So it's not safe to go outside and that's the basis of the show

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 44s)

People deciding whether or not it is safe enough to go outside again

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 49s)

And it is it is very very good

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 52s)

It's character-driven you have a lot of different personalities and but it's also there's mystery

Benjamin Jancewicz (25m 59s)

Components in there because you don't really know

Benjamin Jancewicz (26m 3s)

Why they're trapped in there and what the rules are and there's this you know shadowy government system

Jeff Battersby (26m 11s)

Very very very good. Very cool. All right. I have a couple questions in the midst of these But what I want to do first is Joe TV shows once you give us a couple of your

Joe’s Recommendations

Joe Moyer (26m 20s)

Sure. Yeah, so I would say, you know, it's tough, like you said, because there's a lot of good ones. Also, I have to sort of put a caveat that a lot of these shows, especially if they've been released more recently, I have not completed because those kids I mentioned before we started the show, who I had to bundle into a car and get them out of here, you know,

Joe Moyer (26m 40s)

there's not a lot of TV time and it's usually on an iPad while I'm doing the dishes or making lunches. So with that said, one of the shows I watched fully on TV was Dickinson. I'm not if any of you have seen that.

Joe Moyer (26m 51s)

It was, yeah, it was early on when I think Apple TV plus was free.

Joe Moyer (26m 55s)

I feel like they were giving it away at that point.

Joe Moyer (26m 57s)

Or maybe I had bought a device.

Joe Moyer (26m 59s)

Um, yeah, that's what I thought.

Tom Anderson (27m)

I think they did, I think they gave like a year free when you bought some.

Joe Moyer (27m 4s)

So, um, yeah, it's, it's basically about Emily Dickinson and it's way more interesting, sort of goes beyond just her writing and who she was because it sort of uses anachronisms to kind of bring in modern language, dance, uh, comedy.

Joe Moyer (27m 19s)

So I really--

Joe Moyer (27m 21s)

"Slow Horses" is incredible.

Joe Moyer (27m 23s)

That's one show I devour.

Joe Moyer (27m 26s)

And I'm always so excited when, at the end of the series,

Joe Moyer (27m 28s)

they tell you there's going to be another series.

Joe Moyer (27m 31s)

And then "Ted Lasso."

Joe Moyer (27m 32s)

I feel like "Ted Lasso" is what started it all and was a show that I jumped into in the middle of the pandemic.

Joe Moyer (27m 37s)

And it was just everything I needed,

Joe Moyer (27m 40s)

everything I still need.

Joe Moyer (27m 41s)

So particularly the first season,

Joe Moyer (27m 43s)

the other couple of seasons were a little uneven.

Joe Moyer (27m 45s)

First season, I still go back to and just watch bits of.

Jeff Battersby (27m 49s)

Yeah, that was really, it was touching.

Joe Moyer (27m 51s)

Yeah, it really was.

Jeff Battersby (27m 51s)

Particularly that first season was very, very touching,

Jeff Battersby (27m 54s)

I agree with you.

Jeff Battersby (27m 57s)

So, in my list of series Bad Sisters runs the first season.

Jeff’s Recommendations

Jeff Battersby (28m 5s)

I haven't seen the second season of that yet,

Jeff Battersby (28m 7s)

but I will tell you that the first season of Bad Sisters was clever, dark, which tends to be something that I really like.

Jeff Battersby (28m 17s)

also among the others.

Jeff Battersby (28m 19s)

which is a remake of a movie that you didn't think needed to be remade.

Jeff Battersby (28m 30s)

And I will tell you that that one is another one that, that, uh, Apple really, in terms of the quality of the writing, uh, the quality of the, again, this is another dark one.

Jeff Battersby (28m 45s)

but the quality of the...

Jeff Battersby (28m 51s)

It feels dangerous, that show.

Jeff Battersby (28m 53s)

You know, there's a lot that goes on in Presumed Innocent that feels a little challenging, you know, it made you have to think, uh, you find yourself on the side of certain characters and suddenly you don't belong on that side anymore.

Jeff Battersby (29m 7s)

Which, uh,

Jeff Battersby (29m 9s)

which is something I really, uh,

Jeff Battersby (29m 11s)

really liked. And then, this one kinda has fallen under the radar. Blackbird.

Jeff Battersby (29m 17s)

which is...

Jeff Battersby (29m 19s)

I would just say watch Blackbird. It's another dark one it the short premise of that is a young kid gets himself into trouble gets thrown in jail and in order to get himself out he has to come alongside and befriend this guy that's a serial killer or has been a serial killer but they're missing bodies and so they want to find out where.

Jeff Battersby (29m 49s)

That show to me was pretty amazing, and this is in addition to the others that both of you have mentioned.

Benjamin Jancewicz (30m 6s)

Do think that's that's part of the beauty of the the Apple TV system though. Is that you know, I I

Benjamin Jancewicz (30m 13s)

Respect both of you Joe. I know less of but you know I've been listening to you on on the podcast and you both have excellent tastes and yet

Jeff Battersby (30m 24s)

Thank you.

Benjamin Jancewicz (30m 24s)

Have both have both listed

Joe Moyer (30m 25s)

Thanks.

Benjamin Jancewicz (30m 28s)

shows that are entirely different and a

Benjamin Jancewicz (30m 32s)

Lot of a lot of the shows that you guys have listed. I haven't even touched I haven't

Benjamin Jancewicz (30m 36s)

even seen the previews for you know and so the quality and variety that's there is is kind of astounding even though their their catalog is a lot more limited like I said before there's a lot less filler and so like there's all these good meaty shows like I'm looking forward to getting into Slow Horses I haven't touched that I'm looking forward to getting into Ted Lasso I haven't touched that you know I'm mostly as you can see from my list consuming a lot of of their sci-fi content because that's what I love and I really

Benjamin Jancewicz (31m 6s)

really like.

Benjamin Jancewicz (31m 7s)

I think they do a great job at that but it's very very clear that Apple TV is firing on all cylinders.

Benjamin Jancewicz (31m 13s)

They're really hitting all the marks.

Benjamin Jancewicz (31m 17s)

Like Joe said, they don't have the necessarily fluffy comedies as much but they've got really deep and powerful stuff.

Benjamin Jancewicz (31m 26s)

Yeah, they do.

Joe Moyer (31m 26s)

And they do have some good comedies too there. Yeah, they're just a little lower on my list. Yeah. Yeah, but you're right. Yeah

Benjamin Jancewicz (31m 29s)

But you're right in that they're not to the level of The Office.

Joe Moyer (31m 36s)

Right

Benjamin Jancewicz (31m 36s)

We don't have classics yet but I think that we will eventually.

Joe Moyer (31m 38s)

Mm-hmm

Joe Moyer (31m 41s)

Yeah

Jeff Battersby (31m 43s)

And Tom you

Tom’s Recommendations

Joe Moyer (31m 45s)

Oh, hi Tom

Tom Anderson (31m 46s)

Oh, hey guys.

Jeff Battersby (31m 49s)

Thomas Tama was cleaning the pod closet, I think [laughter]

Joe Moyer (31m 52s)

Yeah, he was reading a book actually it was looked really interesting Interesting. (laughs)

Tom Anderson (31m 56s)

Dozed off there for a second,

Tom Anderson (31m 57s)

but all because I didn't get to talk.

Tom Anderson (31m 59s)

No.

Tom Anderson (32m 2s)

So I have looked, let's see.

Tom Anderson (32m 5s)

So back during the, well, it was a little later on in pandemic, I think it was 2021.

Tom Anderson (32m 12s)

Got into "Tiny World".

Tom Anderson (32m 14s)

I don't know if any of you have watched that.

Jeff Battersby (32m 14s)

No, what is that one?

Tom Anderson (32m 15s)

wash it with the kids.

Benjamin Jancewicz (32m 15s)

Yep, I like tiny world Paul Rudd

Tom Anderson (32m 16s)

And it's, uh, yeah, narrates it.

Tom Anderson (32m 19s)

And it's, um, nature wildlife show and they, you know, stick cameras around and watch the critters do what the critters do, but, but shot really,

Jeff Battersby (32m 22s)

Oh, cool. Yeah, it does.

Tom Anderson (32m 27s)

really well, um, narration is good.

Tom Anderson (32m 30s)

And we watched all those.

Tom Anderson (32m 32s)

Um, then I've watched a little bit of for all mankind.

Tom Anderson (32m 35s)

I think I got through four episodes of that.

Tom Anderson (32m 38s)

Uh, a little bit of pachinko, um, on the movie side, we watched the family plan.

Tom Anderson (32m 44s)

One night we were bored and we were like,

Tom Anderson (32m 46s)

and I think Mark Wahlberg's in that.

Tom Anderson (32m 49s)

And he's got like a hidden,

Tom Anderson (32m 52s)

like he's, I think he may have been an assassin or something,

Tom Anderson (32m 55s)

but it was hidden from his family.

Tom Anderson (32m 57s)

And he was supposed to be some car salesman or something.

Tom Anderson (33m 1s)

Wouldn't say it's their deepest content,

Tom Anderson (33m 3s)

but we enjoyed it, it was, you know, 90 minutes of fun.

Tom Anderson (33m 10s)

And then I did watch season one of Severance,

Tom Anderson (33m 14s)

which I thought was really good.

Tom Anderson (33m 17s)

My thing is, I'm not too terribly patient.

Tom Anderson (33m 20s)

Like I don't like to sit down for 50 minutes and just watch TV.

Jeff Battersby (33m 22s)

No, Tom, what?

Tom Anderson (33m 25s)

And so that's why I think, you know,

Tom Anderson (33m 29s)

I mentioned in the emails that we had going back and forth before we started that, you know,

Tom Anderson (33m 34s)

YouTube kind of fits my time situation a little bit better because they're 10 to 20 minutes.

Tom Anderson (33m 40s)

The stuff I watch anyway,

Tom Anderson (33m 41s)

'cause of course you can watch longer form there too.

Tom Anderson (33m 44s)

And so usually what I will do if I'm--

Tom Anderson (33m 46s)

riding my indoor bike is I'll put the iPad up on that,

Tom Anderson (33m 49s)

pull something up on YouTube.

Tom Anderson (33m 50s)

Now I could easily do it, you know,

Tom Anderson (33m 52s)

watch Apple TV+ content too,

Tom Anderson (33m 53s)

but I think that goes back to the earlier discussion.

Tom Anderson (33m 56s)

It's not top of mind.

Tom Anderson (33m 58s)

And like my wife watches a ton of streaming content.

Tom Anderson (34m 1s)

I mean, probably more than the four of us put together.

Jeff Battersby (34m 6s)

[Laughter] Great.

Benjamin Jancewicz (34m 8s)

Now is that, is that any, so in going back to our habits, is that something that you do together at all? Do you guys watch any

Joe Moyer (34m 8s)

Get her on, Tom.

Tom Anderson (34m 17s)

No, not really. She has different tastes and she likes a lot of, she watches a lot of Korean shows, which is funny because she, you know, she reads the captions. Yeah, she's Vietnamese and watches the Korean dramas and stuff, which I've watched some of those too. And Netflix has most of that stuff that she watches. But I asked her about Apple TV+ and I reached

Viewing Habits

Jeff Battersby (34m 31s)

She's Vietnamese

Tom Anderson (34m 47s)

out to others today too, to see what they do. And like, well, I just don't think about it because we're watching everything on Netflix and Hulu and the other places. But yeah. And so that, that's my primary reason for it, because it's like, it's just such a premium on time. Joan, you and I were messaging about that this week. That it just, I have trouble fitting it in, in places. And so that's why it's fairly limited for me.

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 14s)

Yeah, I know for Jeff and I, it's more of a ritual.

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 17s)

So like Jeff mentioned earlier,

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 19s)

my partner, my significant other is in Montreal,

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 22s)

and so we're in a long distance relationship.

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 24s)

And so watching shows together is one of the ways that we end our day, we'll talk about our day,

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 30s)

and then we'll put on a show and enjoy some really good content.

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 35s)

And I've sat with Jeff and gotten bits and pieces of a lot of different shows whenever I visit him,

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 42s)

because that's what he also does.

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 44s)

He ends his day with a nice cup of tea and a show that they'll watch together.

Benjamin Jancewicz (35m 51s)

Joe, how about you? What's your ritual around the house?

Joe Moyer (35m 55s)

It's not what I like, because my wife and I used to watch shows together.

Joe Moyer (36m)

We have similar tastes.

Joe Moyer (36m 1s)

And because of the two kids, both my kids are actually night owls.

Joe Moyer (36m 5s)

They're like three and five, but they like to go to bed at like 10, which is two hours later than I think their exhausted parents would prefer.

Benjamin Jancewicz (36m 10s)

Bye.

Jeff Battersby (36m 10s)

Bye.

Joe Moyer (36m 15s)

So to answer your question, Benjamin, we typically have one show that we watch together.

Joe Moyer (36m 19s)

Right now it's Bad Monkey, which I think is maybe on all of our list.

Joe Moyer (36m 23s)

I don't know.

Jeff Battersby (36m 23s)

Yeah, it is. I like that show.

Joe Moyer (36m 25s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (36m 26s)

Every time I watch it, I just think Vince Vaughn, this was just made for this show and it was, you know, it's just, it's a very good show.

Joe Moyer (36m 32s)

I think we're on episode six, because we're maybe able to watch an episode every week or two at this point.

Joe Moyer (36m 38s)

So I actually kind of miss that.

Joe Moyer (36m 41s)

You know, watching TV while I'm doing the dishes is not as enjoyable as sitting down in front of the big screen, relaxed.

Joe Moyer (36m 49s)

But...

Benjamin Jancewicz (36m 49s)

Especially Apple TV because I feel like their shows are so dense, you know, I find that for most of these shows I really can't do anything else Tom to your point, you know getting on the treadmill in and going

Joe Moyer (36m 50s)

Right.

Joe Moyer (36m 51s)

Right.

Benjamin Jancewicz (36m 59s)

I'm not sure that I could do that with silo. There's so much in the dialogue and it's honestly

Benjamin Jancewicz (37m 6s)

This actually bothers me a little bit. It's a dark show. So like I said, I watch shows on a projector and

Benjamin Jancewicz (37m 12s)

If there's any other lights, it's kind of annoying to watch because it's very dark And and so if you're you know, you're running

Tom Anderson (37m 16s)

That's a good point. Right.

Benjamin Jancewicz (37m 19s)

on a treadmill or using an exercise bicycle, it's it's a little tough to tough to see.

Jeff Battersby (37m 24s)

And by dark by the way, it is dark in terms of content, but it's also dark in terms of yeah where the place is

Benjamin Jancewicz (37m 27s)

Physically dark and content dark.

Joe Moyer (37m 28s)

Yes, the filming style and the, yeah, the whole,

Joe Moyer (37m 34s)

but the only thing, just a quick note about "Silo"

Joe Moyer (37m 38s)

is I'm just like halfway through season one and I'm enjoying it, guys, but I'm a little worried and what you're saying here makes me feel better.

Joe Moyer (37m 45s)

Do you remember "Lost"?

Joe Moyer (37m 47s)

Like I got a little bit of that, like I hope,

Joe Moyer (37m 49s)

and I honestly didn't know it was based on books,

Joe Moyer (37m 51s)

so that makes me feel better 'cause we know where the story's going,

Benjamin Jancewicz (37m 54s)

Yes.

Joe Moyer (37m 55s)

but I got a little nervous there, so I'm relieved.

Benjamin Jancewicz (37m 56s)

I do know that the books have a solid arc and ending.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 1s)

And I was afraid of that too.

Joe Moyer (38m 1s)

Okay, that's all we need.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 3s)

I was, I did watch parties with Lost.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 7s)

A whole 20 friends would get together every week in somebody's basement.

Joe Moyer (38m 7s)

So did I, so did I.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 13s)

We rotated and we provided snacks and made a whole ordeal.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 16s)

And we had at least an hour after every episode where we would just, you know, spend.

Joe Moyer (38m 19s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (38m 20s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (38m 21s)

I'm with you, Benjamin.

Joe Moyer (38m 22s)

We both got burned.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 22s)

And then was one of the most disappointing endings of any show that I've ever seen, ever.

Joe Moyer (38m 23s)

Yeah, that's true.

Joe Moyer (38m 24s)

Okay.

Joe Moyer (38m 25s)

I'm relieved.

Joe Moyer (38m 26s)

I'm sorry for the tangent, but I'm relieved.

Joe Moyer (38m 27s)

Yeah.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 27s)

Although Game of Thrones, I think, beat it.

Joe Moyer (38m 28s)

Good.

Joe Moyer (38m 29s)

Okay.

Joe Moyer (38m 30s)

Okay.

Tom Anderson (38m 30s)

Game of Thrones was up there too.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 30s)

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Joe Moyer (38m 31s)

All right.

Tom Anderson (38m 31s)

Yeah, I did watch that.

Joe Moyer (38m 32s)

Let's keep going.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 32s)

But, yeah, I do know that it has an Arkens, and that it is planned out, and so, you know.

Joe Moyer (38m 33s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (38m 34s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (38m 35s)

I'm with you, Benjamin.

Joe Moyer (38m 36s)

We both got burned.

Joe Moyer (38m 37s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (38m 38s)

That's true.

Joe Moyer (38m 39s)

Okay.

Joe Moyer (38m 40s)

I'm relieved.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 40s)

I have some hope. I have some hope there.

Joe Moyer (38m 41s)

I'm sorry for the tangent, but I'm relieved.

Joe Moyer (38m 42s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (38m 43s)

Good.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 43s)

I, and I'm like you, I actually usually don't start a show until the entire...

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 52s)

set of seasons has been completed.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 54s)

I'm not usually one to watch live because of Lost,

Joe Moyer (38m 55s)

Oh wow, yeah, you'll never forget.

Benjamin Jancewicz (38m 58s)

because I was burned so badly by Lost, and then Game of Thrones.

Benjamin Jancewicz (39m 2s)

So, I usually wait.

Benjamin Jancewicz (39m 4s)

But, yeah, Tom, are you going to watch Severance Season 2?

Tom Anderson (39m 8s)

Uh, probably at some point, just as you referred to there, I will probably wait until they're all out, um, and then kind of see what the general feel for it is and then sit down because

Tom Anderson (39m 23s)

the programming differences between some of the servers like Netflix likes to throw everything out, you binge watch it, you're done, move on to the next. Uh, yeah, Apple kind of takes,

Benjamin Jancewicz (39m 28s)

Yep. Squid game.

Tom Anderson (39m 32s)

and probably some others, takes kind of the traditional, there's a new episode every week,

Tom Anderson (39m 38s)

with Sopranos and a bunch of their stuff and the traditional take. Um, I don't have a strong preference either way, um, as far as consuming it, but I do tend to lean more towards, once it's all out, I like that approach because if I'm into it, then I can, you know, I can take a weekend and watch it and then I'm done and then I can go back and do something else. Um, and to be honest,

Tom Anderson (40m 3s)

sometimes it's hard for me if it's a weekly, be like, I'm not coming back next week because I'll

Tom Anderson (40m 9s)

like, well, like this weekend's a great example. Like, you know, we've got four playoff games in the NFL and then we've got conference championships and all that stuff. So I'm not gonna, my, any viewing time I have is going to be wasted on that for the next couple of weeks. But even that, I mean, that's a little easier because it's background, you don't have to pay so close attention.

Tom Anderson (40m 29s)

I mean, there's so many audible cues to know when something's going on to get your head to pop up and look but...

Benjamin Jancewicz (40m 35s)

I'm with you on that. I actually prefer, you know, the

Benjamin Jancewicz (40m 39s)

Everything all out at once so that you can binge watch if you really want to

Benjamin Jancewicz (40m 43s)

But I think that I don't mind it from Apple TV just because the quality is there, you know with these shows

Benjamin Jancewicz (40m 50s)

Like I said serialization is really important for me. And so I have yet to get to

Benjamin Jancewicz (40m 57s)

An episode on most of these where I'm just like well, I'm not picking that up again

Benjamin Jancewicz (41m 2s)

You know I like to

Benjamin Jancewicz (41m 5s)

put the investment into things that are going to be good quality. Usually most of the time I actually don't watch TV shows I watch movies because I know like Joe said there's going to be a solid start and a solid end. But because Apple TV's quality is so high I am more willing

Tom Anderson (41m 21s)

Yeah and for the people that do watch like every week like you know the first episode of Severance season 2 was yesterday as we record this on Saturday January 18th uh but it builds buzz right because I remember Game of Thrones when that was super hot right it was white hot and people were like oh my gosh the new Game of Thrones is coming out and social that's all you saw like if you were scrolling Twitter when Game of Thrones was going on right it was it'd be you know it's an event so

Benjamin Jancewicz (41m 27s)

Mm-hmm

Benjamin Jancewicz (41m 34s)

Yeah

Jeff Battersby (41m 41s)

Mm-hmm

Benjamin Jancewicz (41m 42s)

All the memes

Jeff Battersby (41m 45s)

Especially the last meme

Joe Moyer (41m 47s)

Yeah.

Jeff Battersby (41m 50s)

That last name was brilliant

Tom Anderson (41m 51s)

there's definitely something to that um that method as well.

Jeff Battersby (41m 57s)

All right We're almost at time because we don't really want to blow past all this which means we probably could have done like three episodes On this one in movies. I

Other Shows & Movies to Consider

Jeff Battersby (42m 6s)

Want to point out killers of the flower moon

Jeff Battersby (42m 9s)

Which is a movie

Jeff Battersby (42m 11s)

that that Apple did released in theaters first and then came to Apple TV plus

Jeff Battersby (42m 16s)

One of the best movies the last year as far as I'm concerned it's it really is an amazing thing

Tom Anderson (42m 23s)

How many of those have they done where they go movie first and then

Tom Anderson (42m 26s)

then to Apple TV plus? Just a couple, right? A handful maybe? Yeah.

Jeff Battersby (42m 26s)

Not a lot there have been a couple but you know, that was a Scorsese

Jeff Battersby (42m 32s)

You know with a with a pretty hefty cast and honestly, I saw it originally in the movie theater I was when that came out I saw it

Tom Anderson (42m 40s)

Could it do well in theaters like this?

Jeff Battersby (42m 41s)

It did it it really did and and maybe that was maybe it's not last year. Maybe it's a year before

Jeff Battersby (42m 47s)

I think it was a year before it's not

Jeff Battersby (42m 50s)

Time flies now because I'm old

Jeff Battersby (42m 53s)

The but there Their movie content, you know what they're doing that way when they're making movies again They they are not just throwing garbage out there So that that was one that I thought if you haven't seen killers of the flower moon, it's a long movie

Jeff Battersby (43m 11s)

hours, so you need to be able to

Jeff Battersby (43m 13s)

Tom's yeah, right

Tom Anderson (43m 14s)

Three hours.

Tom Anderson (43m 15s)

Nah, man, I'm out.

Joe Moyer (43m 16s)

Yeah, that's, that's why I haven't seen it.

Jeff Battersby (43m 17s)

Tom Tom's doing Tom's Tom's doing that in week-long segments like again, I can watch the movie over a period of a week

Jeff Battersby (43m 26s)

It is really worth

Jeff Battersby (43m 29s)

Worth seeing and there's a lot of really good children's content on Apple TV plus as well

Jeff Battersby (43m 36s)

One of the ones I thought which is based on a book that I really loved the boy the mole the Fox in the hole

Benjamin Jancewicz (43m 41s)

Can't wait to see that. I still haven't watched that and that's on my top

Jeff Battersby (43m 41s)

Horse

Jeff Battersby (43m 45s)

Should be among

Jeff Battersby (43m 48s)

You know all the things you watch the book is quite good, too

Jeff Battersby (43m 51s)

Which by the way bad monkey is based on a Carl Hyacinth book Which is I read before that show ever came out really good usual Carl Hyacinth hijinks

Joe Moyer (44m)

Yeah, I've heard it's a good book.

Jeff Battersby (44m 1s)

It is yeah, I'll lend it to you. You know, you're not that far away. I'll drive it over

Joe Moyer (44m 5s)

No, we're not.

Joe Moyer (44m 5s)

No, right.

Joe Moyer (44m 6s)

Yeah, you're right.

Joe Moyer (44m 7s)

Meet in the middle sometime, Jeff.

Jeff Battersby (44m 8s)

Yeah, we can do that

Jeff Battersby (44m 12s)

Any other movies or any other as we kind of close this close this out any

Jeff Battersby (44m 19s)

Actually, let's do two things Joe we'll start with you a

Jeff Battersby (44m 23s)

movie suggestion or another maybe documentary suggestion and then one thing that maybe you panned and then

Jeff Battersby (44m 30s)

Benjamin same for you Tom you pan everything so it doesn't matter

Joe Moyer (44m 33s)

Three hours, yeah, I think he's answering work email.

Jeff Battersby (44m 37s)

Look at he's he's in daydream land over [laughing]

Tom Anderson (44m 42s)

I was looking to see what the killers of the Flower Moon did at the box office.

Jeff Battersby (44m 44s)

Oh my gosh.

Tom Anderson (44m 52s)

Yeah.

Benjamin Jancewicz (44m 52s)

I would also say this about Killers of the Flower Moon before we jump too far is that the book is also excellent and

Benjamin Jancewicz (44m 58s)

the writer for that book has put out nothing but amazing work.

Benjamin Jancewicz (45m 2s)

So, I don't know if you are, if you have the time to read, but if you do, I I strongly suggest

Tom Anderson (45m 12s)

So just so we can inform the audience, because we've talked about it,

Tom Anderson (45m 16s)

in this article published December 3rd, 2023, it had done $158 million at the box office,

Tom Anderson (45m 25s)

but the budget was $200 million.

Jeff Battersby (45m 28s)

Yeah, well, streaming pays for that stuff.

Joe Moyer (45m 30s)

Yeah, right there's a tax write-off there somewhere

Benjamin Jancewicz (45m 33s)

Apple's not losing money

Jeff Battersby (45m 33s)

Yeah, and it was well worth it.

Joe Moyer (45m 35s)

Right, right services revenue guys, we're all hooked

Benjamin Jancewicz (45m 41s)

Like the money guys are beaking off of this show

Joe Moyer (45m 41s)

So I have not watched it right. Yes. Yes. I'm still waiting for my check. I'm just gonna say

Jeff Battersby (45m 46s)

Yeah, yeah, you'll get it.

Tom Anderson (45m 46s)

Your royalties will be in the mail soon, don't worry.

Benjamin Jancewicz (45m 47s)

In the mail it's in the mail

Jeff Battersby (45m 48s)

Right after Tom and I get our checks.

Tom Anderson (45m 49s)

Yeah.

Joe Moyer (45m 50s)

Right, of course, of course

Tom Anderson (45m 51s)

Yeah.

Tom Anderson (45m 52s)

How many zeros do you want on the end of it?

Benjamin Jancewicz (45m 52s)

Trickle down trickle down economics

Tom Anderson (45m 54s)

They'll all be after the decimal point,

Tom Anderson (45m 55s)

but we can put as many as you want.

Joe Moyer (45m 56s)

Yeah, throw them in there throw them in there [laughs]

Jeff Battersby (45m 59s)

All right, Joe.

Joe Moyer (46m)

Yeah, movies, I have not done a lot.

Joe Moyer (46m 2s)

And honestly, more than half of them have had Tom Hanks in them.

Jeff Battersby (46m 7s)

I would say that one, that one made me cry.

Joe Moyer (46m 7s)

But I would say the Steve Martin documentary was brilliant.

Joe Moyer (46m 13s)

It was, as the title says,

Joe Moyer (46m 14s)

Steve Martin documentary in two pieces, and it was.

Joe Moyer (46m 21s)

Yeah, it was beautiful.

Jeff Battersby (46m 21s)

It was really, it was really, really.

Joe Moyer (46m 22s)

It was, yeah, visually, everything, the audio.

Joe Moyer (46m 27s)

I actually had the pleasure of watching most of,

Joe Moyer (46m 29s)

at least one of the episodes and.

Joe Moyer (46m 31s)

by myself in the living room with a fire going and it was like, this is pretty nice, right?

Joe Moyer (46m 34s)

This is how content is meant to be, uh, you know, documentaries are meant to be enjoyed.

Joe Moyer (46m 38s)

Um, something that didn't work for me and the challenge for me is if it doesn't work for me,

Joe Moyer (46m 42s)

I typically just stop watching it, but I watched the problem with Jon Stewart.

Joe Moyer (46m 46s)

Um, for, for a number of episodes, I'm one of those people who grew up,

Joe Moyer (46m 49s)

you know, watching the daily show when Jon Stewart was on.

Joe Moyer (46m 52s)

Um, and it just, it just didn't, didn't hit for me.

Joe Moyer (46m 55s)

I thought he was trying to, to cover some really important topics.

Joe Moyer (47m)

But it just didn't quite vibe for me.

Joe Moyer (47m 2s)

And as we know, probably, I don't think it worked for Apple too after a while because they parted ways.

Jeff Battersby (47m 6s)

It didn't work for Jon Stewart either.

Joe Moyer (47m 7s)

Right, right.

Joe Moyer (47m 8s)

I mean, I think, you know, he made the right choice for himself to go

Joe Moyer (47m 12s)

and he's back on the daily show, which I watch his segment on YouTube to your point, Tom,

Joe Moyer (47m 15s)

which I do a fair amount of YouTube and I, I enjoy that.

Joe Moyer (47m 18s)

So I feel like maybe it's just what I want.

Joe Moyer (47m 20s)

Maybe it's the comfort of what I used to watch when I was in my twenties.

Benjamin Jancewicz (47m 23s)

I think it was too long. I don't know about you, Joe, but I enjoyed it, but it felt like

Benjamin Jancewicz (47m 28s)

it was too long. The nice thing about the Daily Show is that all the segments are short. It's short and sweet to get some laughs and hit some hard points, but the problem with Jon Stewart was

Joe Moyer (47m 32s)

It's true. Right. Right.

Benjamin Jancewicz (47m 40s)

one issue that they dragged out over, what, 45 minutes?

Joe Moyer (47m 44s)

Yeah, right. I think it just didn't.

Benjamin Jancewicz (47m 49s)

Alright, um, I got to mention Swan Song Swan Song is just a really great movie it

Benjamin Jancewicz (47m 57s)

Not a lot of people know about it

Jeff Battersby (47m 59s)

I don't, so tell me.

Benjamin Jancewicz (47m 59s)

it's Psychological romantic sci-fi movie. It feels like an expanded Black Mirror episode, but it's a little bit harder-hitting

Benjamin Jancewicz (48m 8s)

But it's a it's a solid solid movie. I know that you didn't like it, but I enjoyed wolves quite a bit

Jeff Battersby (48m 16s)

Yeah, I didn't, I thought I would.

Benjamin Jancewicz (48m 17s)

Just because it felt like it was a

Benjamin Jancewicz (48m 19s)

film that Brad Pitt and George Clooney wanted to do. I feel like they often get roped into doing things that you know you know is they they're obligated to do but this just felt like them having fun to me yeah it did it did but with a no did not rise to the level the oceans just I think mostly because it was just the two of them you know it didn't have a whole gigantic cast I also really

Jeff Battersby (48m 33s)

It felt like a lesser oceans movie to me is what it felt like.

Jeff Battersby (48m 37s)

It was, it was not, it didn't rise to the level of the ocean.

Benjamin Jancewicz (48m 49s)

liked still which is another biopic documentary which is about Michael J Fox and Michael J Fox has kind of stayed out of the public eye quite a bit you know since his since his diagnosis and this really gets into you know what happened and where he is now it's really honest it will also make you cry but I am just baffled at how they made it because with

Benjamin Jancewicz (49m 19s)

stunt doubles and with using footage from his previous shows in and and movies they recreate his life so they they use this yeah they use the sets and and things that are happening in the movies that he played in to illustrate what was happening in his actual real life which is is is stunning to me like You see him.

Benjamin Jancewicz (49m 49s)

As a young man, as he's talking about being a young man, but the footage, even though it feels like it's freshly shot and you know, it's telling this narrative of him as a young man, it's actually pulled a lot of footage from the different shows and movies that he was in. So it's, it's really, really well done. I highly recommend that.

Benjamin Jancewicz (50m 10s)

I will say that I don't think that their movie offerings are as strong as their TV shows. But the one

Benjamin Jancewicz (50m 19s)

especially their documentaries are, are solid. I will also, I do want to say that they're not great at everything. Emancipation was absolutely awful. My God, Will Smith bombed that movie. It was just, and I only throw that in there just to prove that Apple TV can make mistakes. Napoleon I enjoyed, it was big and high budget, but the accent choice was just, I don't know, it, it, it ruined everything.

Benjamin Jancewicz (50m 49s)

But those are, those are my picks.

Jeff Battersby (50m 52s)

Okay, the Emancipation, by the way, I think it probably didn't feel as good after his Haymaker, you know that that that was released shortly after

Joe Moyer (50m 58s)

Maybe not. That was it. That was it.

Benjamin Jancewicz (50m 59s)

Well, there's also just so many other movies, like 12 Years a Slave is such a better movie.

Jeff Battersby (51m 1s)

after

Benjamin Jancewicz (51m 8s)

And so like, you know, when you're, unless you're trying to do something new, which they really weren't, they were just telling another slave story.

Benjamin Jancewicz (51m 18s)

Unless you're trying to do something new, you're just kind of fall into this rut.

Benjamin Jancewicz (51m 23s)

So it's too bad.

Jeff Battersby (51m 24s)

Tom Tom, you like me. Okay. Okay, great. So. Okay, great. Okay.

Tom Anderson (51m 28s)

Jeff.

Benjamin Jancewicz (51m 30s)

And back to you!

Tom Anderson (51m 33s)

Honestly, I don't, because I haven't watched enough other than Severance, and you know,

Tom Anderson (51m 38s)

check that out if you haven't.

Jeff Battersby (51m 39s)

Fair, fair enough. All right, so I'm going to throw a documentary,

Jeff Battersby (51m 42s)

The Pigeon Tunnel, which is about John le Carré, which I highly recommend.

Jeff Battersby (51m 48s)

Really, really interesting. That guy's backstory for all his really good

Jeff Battersby (51m 54s)

films, you know, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and a number of others.

Jeff Battersby (51m 59s)

He was quite the spy himself. It's pretty, it really is a pretty interesting,

Jeff Battersby (52m 6s)

pretty interesting reading and reading, watching. He's interesting reading too,

Joe Moyer (52m 10s)

Yeah, he's a good read, too.

Jeff Battersby (52m 11s)

but yeah, but, but the documentary about him is, is pretty great.

Jeff Battersby (52m 15s)

And one other one I'll throw in that didn't really get a lot of play,

Jeff Battersby (52m 18s)

but I thought was really good was The Tragedy of Macbeth,

Jeff Battersby (52m 22s)

which was black and white version.

Jeff Battersby (52m 25s)

with, oh my God, who is it?

Jeff Battersby (52m 27s)

Denzel Washington's in it, and plays Macbeth,

Jeff Battersby (52m 29s)

and it's killer.

Jeff Battersby (52m 32s)

I thought it was quite good,

Jeff Battersby (52m 33s)

so I would highly recommend that.

Jeff Battersby (52m 36s)

I think the bottom line of this whole show is that,

Jeff Battersby (52m 39s)

you know, if you've been missing Apple TV+,

Jeff Battersby (52m 41s)

like if you haven't watched anything on it,

Jeff Battersby (52m 43s)

you know, you could probably burn all your other accounts and come over here, and in all likelihood,

Jeff Battersby (52m 50s)

especially if you're, you know, if you're using Apple.

Jeff Battersby (52m 55s)

You've got access to all this, and if you have access to all of it, you should be, uh, you should be making use of it.

Jeff Battersby (53m 1s)

Apple really is producing great TV, great documentaries, uh, 10% of their movies are really, really good, maybe 20.

Jeff Battersby (53m 10s)

Um, but there's a lot.

Benjamin Jancewicz (53m 14s)

I will say that's honestly where I am now, you know, I check Apple TV first before I go to any of the other apps if I'm looking for something new to watch, just because I know the quality is going to be there, you know, Netflix is going to be hit or miss, Prime is going to be hit or miss, everything else is hit or miss.

Jeff Battersby (53m 29s)

Except for the boys on Prime, man, that's a show.

Jeff Battersby (53m 32s)

Anyway, we could spend hours talking and we've already burned nearly an hour of your time.

Jeff Battersby (53m 39s)

And by you, we're talking to our listeners, which we have a lot of now.

Jeff Battersby (53m 45s)

You know, we're not up in Joe Rogan territory yet, but we're, you know, up in the smolder.

Benjamin Jancewicz (53m 50s)

Is that is that your goal, Jeff?

Benjamin Jancewicz (53m 51s)

That's your, you want to be Joe Rogan?

Benjamin Jancewicz (53m 53s)

I didn't realize that about you.

Jeff Battersby (53m 53s)

I want, no, no, I don't want to, I don't want to be him, I want to overtake him.

Jeff Battersby (53m 59s)

That's my, that's my, anything, what, Mahomes, is it, no, no, no, it's one of the Kelseys.

Jeff Battersby (54m 6s)

The wife of one of the Kelseys, I think, has now overtaken him.

Jeff Battersby (54m 8s)

But anyway, we don't need to talk about that.

Tom Anderson (54m 10s)

Yeah, can they go away by the way, the Kelseys? I've had enough of the Kelseys.

Jeff Battersby (54m 11s)

Ah, yeah, well, whatever.

Benjamin Jancewicz (54m 12s)

Please, please.

Jeff Battersby (54m 15s)

They're on, they're on my cereal now.

Tom Anderson (54m 15s)

Now, I need to preface that by saying I'm a Denver Broncos fan, so Travis Kelsey, I'm already, he's a Chief, so I'm like, I can't like him. He might be a nice guy, I have no idea. But as long as he's a Chief, I can't like him. But anyway, continue, Jeff. Wrap us up. Take us home, if you will.

Joe Moyer (54m 21s)

Ah. Yeah. [laughs] It's not allowed.

Jeff Battersby (54m 25s)

Anyway, so I'm gonna—that's exactly where I was headed, Tom, until you interrupted us with the Denver Broncos.

Close

Jeff Battersby (54m 40s)

Sorry, I know he is.

Joe Moyer (54m 40s)

He's bored, come on.

Tom Anderson (54m 42s)

And by the way, by the way, shout out Bill's Mafia.

Jeff Battersby (54m 44s)

It's Dullesville.

Tom Anderson (54m 45s)

That's all I'm saying.

Jeff Battersby (54m 46s)

Yeah, you got some real traction with the Pills Mafia, didn't you?

Tom Anderson (54m 51s)

That was nuts.

Tom Anderson (54m 52s)

Like I totally didn't expect it.

Tom Anderson (54m 53s)

So they knocked Denver out of the playoff.

Tom Anderson (54m 55s)

We'll keep it short 'cause I know we're long on time,

Tom Anderson (54m 56s)

but they knocked Denver out of the playoffs in the wild card.

Tom Anderson (54m 59s)

And I made what I thought was just a very, you know,

Tom Anderson (55m 3s)

one-off post on threads that was like, you know,

Tom Anderson (55m 5s)

we were overmatched, but, you know,

Tom Anderson (55m 6s)

team's Broncos future is looking good.

Tom Anderson (55m 8s)

We've got a quarterback now,

Tom Anderson (55m 10s)

But I'm going to, as long as somebody.

Tom Anderson (55m 13s)

And oh my gosh, I got like a hundred comments.

Tom Anderson (55m 15s)

I've got new best friends in Buffalo.

Tom Anderson (55m 17s)

They're like, your quarterback is great.

Tom Anderson (55m 19s)

Thanks for your support.

Tom Anderson (55m 20s)

One guy was like, okay, now that you're in the mafia, you have to eat wings and say, go bills to anybody you see wearing a bill shirt.

Tom Anderson (55m 29s)

I'm like, man, I may have to actually take a road trip up there in like September for a game.

Tom Anderson (55m 32s)

I'm not going after that.

Tom Anderson (55m 33s)

It's too cold, but, but yeah, I was blown away.

Joe Moyer (55m 35s)

Yeah.

Tom Anderson (55m 37s)

Like you, you know, I was blown away.

Joe Moyer (55m 38s)

Yeah, right, right, no.

Benjamin Jancewicz (55m 39s)

Yeah, shovel this, Tati.

Tom Anderson (55m 39s)

But, uh, yeah, I was blown away.

Joe Moyer (55m 39s)

Unless you wanna shovel the stadium.

Tom Anderson (55m 42s)

would expect, yeah, maybe some kind of trash talk, but wasn't any of that.

Joe Moyer (55m 44s)

I used to be a Bills fan, so yeah,

Joe Moyer (55m 46s)

now they're nice people up there.

Tom Anderson (55m 48s)

Like they were all genuinely nice comments.

Tom Anderson (55m 50s)

I was blown away by it.

Joe Moyer (55m 50s)

Yeah.

Jeff Battersby (55m 52s)

All right, so show music, Celsius 7, we're in Psychokinetics.

Jeff Battersby (55m 57s)

Jeff Battersby (56m 37s)

Jeff Battersby (56m 48s)

Joe Moyer (58m 19s)

Well, they refreshed the uniforms and everything this year.

Benjamin Jancewicz (58m 27s)

Yes, great design
